Thoughts: I think Zykiesis wins the award for coolest name on the roster. Not sure why but I can’t say it out loud without sounding German…

Zykiesis is a nice addition to the secondary this year and presents a similar style of play to that of fellow freshmen Washington and Culver. All three, while each takes a slightly different approach, love to play bump and run coverage. Cannon played WR in high school along with corner and can blow by people when necessary. As with everyone in the secondary this season I wouldn't be shocked to see him get shifted around between corner, safety, and maybe even included in some nickel and dime coverage’s. If nothing else I’d fully expect a few of these freshmen, especially with speed like Cannon, to cut teeth on special teams just to get a feel for the speed of the game. While my initial impression is that Cannon may not play a lot this year, I’m completely in the dark with the cornerback position and he could surprise a few people during practice to make a depth chart move.

Sweet Tweet:

This was obviously from September of last year, so today is in fact NOT Zykiesis' birthday. The reason I chose this tweet is because I have a birthday next week, and I have something to get off my chest. Every year growing up, every single kid in my class at school got to have a "special day" on their birthday, which typically included bringing in cupcakes, getting to stand first in line all day, wearing a paper crown and all sorts of other nonsense. You know who never got to do that? This guy. Just because my parents decided to procreate in November, ‘Mr. Summer Birthday’ never got to have his big day in school. Looking back now I’m glad it worked out that way, because it taught me life isn't fair. Jimmy and Sally get a brand new eraser and get to be the first in line to play ‘Heads Up, Seven Up’, I get squat. BUT, when I flew past Jimmy in the sack race on field day, I was the one bringing home a ribbon and all he took home was some grass stained jeans. Those were the days. Not every kid should get a trophy just for showing up and not everyone should get to celebrate their birthday at school. That’s life. Them’s the breaks kid. You’re not going to be great at everything. Find something you love and work hard at it. Maybe you’ll be an athlete, a writer, a lawyer, a doctor, a musician, or maybe….a military general…

"Fire de Zykiesis Cannon!!"
