After years of wanting people cruising down I-65 to have a better view of its campus and athletic facilities, U of L is finally getting its wish.
The silo demolition has begun.

The U of L Foundation bought the silos and the surrounding property (which has already been demolished) from Solae Co. for $3.3 million last year. After a couple of delays, the destruction of the silos -- which will not involve any explosives -- began Thursday afternoon.
There's still no word on what the property will be used for long-term, but for now, a better view of campus (and some extra parking for home football games) is a step in the right direction.
