Thoughts: Some might remember that Luke came into the Louisville program like all 27 members of the Brohm family before him, at QB. With Sunny Will Stein and Teddy getting the reps the last couple years, Luke moved to fullback to help fill the void. Luke played against Ohio in Game 1 last season, but didn’t see the field again. While Lamar Atkins is likely to get a lot of the snaps at fullback this year, Luke and Uhl will probably split the other half, especially when we need some more size. I like Atkins as a blocker but he also has some shiftiness and someone you better keep an eye on out of the backfield. With Brohm and Uhl, were sending them out there just to lay you on your back, and I love that.

Remember that marketing ploy by Esurance during the SuperBowl, when everyone’s twitter timeline blew up for about 20 minutes..? Well, if you were like me, you didn’t win, nor did you actually follow up on it to see who did. I know, shocking right? BUT, somebody actually did win and they seemed pretty surprised. Check it out…

If Esurance ever runs a marketing campaign targeting people who type countdown posts on SB Nation blogs for the University of Louisville I would like to think I've got a decent shot.

#36 Kevin Houchins
Class: RS Sophomore
Ht/Wt: 5-11/194
Position: Safety

Thoughts: The Cardinals secondary is a mess right now. Do we have talented players? Absolutely, but lack of experience and size are killers. Petrino and Grantham have identified the area of concern and have made multiple moves over the last couple of months, weeks and even days to try and solidify a group that everyone is pointing to as an area of concern. One of the big moves, which I mentioned when discussing Jarrod Barnes on Day 41, was the move of Floyd to safety. This may add some depth at the safety position, but now leaves a void at corner. The spring depth chart had Houchins behind Floyd at the #2 corner position, but some comments by Petrino and a new depth chart show that the Prez (Andrew Johnson) appears to be primed to take over that spot. Obviously on July 27th nothing is set in stone and Houchins may make a strong play to get that starting role back once camp gets going. Kevin has some game experience from last year after taking a redshirt in 2012, but didn’t look outstanding in the Spring game, lacking the speed to keep up with Quick and others on the first team offense. With three years of eligibility left Houchins may become an excellent player in the secondary, but he needs time to develop, and unfortunately that isn't something we have the luxury of providing in 2014.
