The September 1st showdown with Miami is five weeks away and Coach Petrino has the team focused on putting up another W against the Hurricanes. If you're like me and five weeks seems like an eternity to wait for Cardinal football, then I've got some good new. Coach Petrino has announced that the first week of fall practices will be free and open to the public.

The Courier Journal has the details.

University of Louisville football coach Bobby Petrino announced Wednesday that fans will be allowed to attend the first week of practices and a scrimmage. The practices Aug. 5-9 will all be open, as well as a scrimmage on Aug. 16 at 9 a.m., followed by Fan Day at 3 p.m.

On Aug. 5-8, practice for newcomers and select veterans will start at 8:50 a.m. Veterans will take the field at 4:20 p.m. Both practices are available for the fans to view. The practice on Aug. 9 is scheduled for 3 p.m.

Practices and the scrimmage on August 16th will be held at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium or the adjacent practice facility. Details for the 2014 Fan Day event are expected to be released this coming week.
