CC Video Game Challenge: Play-in Round

Okay, so, let's do this thingy.

Voting will be held the same way it was in the CCCC. Just leave a comment listing which game franchises you are voting for. Provide reason for it if you wish. Simple as that.

Also, I will try to write some quick analyses of each match-up, but, I haven't played all of these game franchises (In fact, in this round the only game I've ever played is the NCAA Basketball series.) So they may not be that good. But I'm at least familiar with almost all of them, so I'll give it my best shot...

If you would like to see the bracket, then here is the link.

So, without further ado, let's get right down to business...

(16) Oddworld vs. (16) Twisted Metal (N. Sanity Island)

Oddworld is led by the mudokons, who are described as "peaceful, spiritual creatures at one with nature." Knowing that, Oddworld should gain an advantage with this battle taking place on a tropical island. It will be interesting to see how these peaceful creatures fare against the demolition derby cars and guns of Twisted Metal. I ultimately predict that the cars and guns win out. Winner moves on to the Hyrule Regional, likely to be sacrificial lambs for Mario.

(16) Tekken vs. (16) Xeno (Dragon Shores)

A fighting game vs. an RPG. In my Opinion, the most interesting match-up of the Play-in Round. Definitely will be seeing a lot of hand-to-hand combat in this one. Paul, Nina, and Heihachi may have some difficulty against the Gears of Xeno. Xeno, meanwhile, will have their hands full containing a packed cast of characters from Tekken. Spyro, who is not participating in this challenge, (Seriously, people?) gets to kick back and enjoy a great match-up on his home turf. In a close one, I ultimately foresee the guys from Xeno moving into the Angel Island Regional to go up against Legend of Zelda.

(16) Megami Tensei vs. (16) Total War (N. Sanity Island)

Continuing with the theme of Japanese RPGs, Megami Tensei, A franchise mostly exclusive to Japan, takes on a computer strategy franchise in Total War. This is a pretty interesting match-up. I see the Soldiers from the Total War series in a tough battle with the demons from Megami Tensei. In the end I predict Total War to win. Really not much else I have to say about this one. Winner moves on to the Liberty City Regional to take on Final Fantasy.

(16) NCAA Basketball vs. (16) Silent Hill (Dragon Shores)

A beach may not be much of a basketball court, especially since it opens up the possibility to weather being a factor as EA Sports' now-defunct College Basketball series takes on one of the scariest gaming franchises ever made, Silent Hill. This one has absolutely awesome match-ups all-around. Harry Mason will have quite the match-up on his hands with PG #10, while James Sunderland will be guarded by C #15. SF #12 will go one-on-one with Heather Mason, while Henry Townshend will get to guard SG #34. Perhaps the most intriguing match-up will be Claudia Wolf taking on PF #23. Considering the type of website we are on, I'm pretty confident in predicting that the NCAA Basketball franchise will move on. Winner goes on to the Mushroom Kingdom Regional to take on Batman Arkham.

So, best of luck to all 68 franchises who have earned the privilege of participating in the first ever CCVGC. Voting for this round will conclude in 24 hours. Voting starts... right now.

PS: Sorry if these analyses kinda sucked. I'm not as gifted in writing as some other people around here are.
