The Card Chronicle Video Game Challenge Bracket

Well first and foremost, I would like to thank all who nominated and voted for their favorite video game franchises. We had a total of 143 different video game franchises nominated.

Now, without further ado, here is the completed Field of 68:!/2b48314d96c35

Although this website does not let me put sites of the match-ups on the bracket, I will find a way to include the sites in each post.

If you want to know what the sites are, check out the nomination post here. The only change I've made is replacing Empire City with Rapture, as per somebody's suggestion.

Some additional notes about the Challenge:

Last Four In:

Tekken, Xeno, Oddworld, Twisted Metal

First Four Out:

Team Ico, Punch-Out, Red Dead, DuckTales

Next Four Out:

RollerCoaster Tycoon, Portal, FTL: Faster Than Light, College Hoops 2K

Other Notable Snubs:

Star Ocean, Shadow Hearts, Skies of Arcadia, Dragon Age, Wii Sports, Jak & Daxter, Ratchet & Clank, LittleBigPlanet, and several others.

I must say, I had a blast putting this together over the last couple of days. I'm pretty happy with how the bracket turned out (Though some of you probably feel differently about that, and will make your opinions known in the comments below) And I'm really excited to see how the challenge plays out (Though I put my early bets on Mario).

Couple more notes before I close out this post:

-- Dragon Quest accounts for both the Dragon Quest AND Dragon Warrior games, since both games are part of the same franchise.

-- During nominations, there was a bit of concern raised about whether Donkey Kong should be it's own separate franchise from Mario. I can certainly see why some people believe that they should be separate, but my main problem with this is the Mario vs. Donkey Kong games. If we split them up, would the Mario vs. DK games count as Mario or DK? Considering that, along with the fact that DK is present in many Mario games (Sports games, Mario Party, Mario Kart), I believe DK should be considered part of the Mario franchise.

Play-in Rounds will be on Monday, with the Round of 64 taking place on Tuesday and Wednesday, and the Round of 32 taking place on Thursday and Friday. So get those brackets ready, guys and gals!
