Okay, so I have had this idea for a while now and couldn't find a good way to propose it and get a good discussion going so I decided it might be worth writing a FanPost.
Rick Pitino retires in 202X after bringing in a few more top 25 recruiting classes (we all know he doesn't need a top 10 recruiting class), developing those players to an elite level, getting to multiple Final Fours and adding another notch or two to his belt. Meanwhile Richard is building a power of his own in Minnesota getting deeper and deeper into the NCAA tournament and eventually reaching a couple Final Fours. Since he has now established himself as an elite coach that can recruit and make some runs in March he is on Tom's short list as our new head coach. After thinking long and hard about it, he graciously accepts the position and is UofL's next head coach.
After going through the mandatory press conference and having a tour of the new practice facilities that Tom just built in preparation for our new head coach Richard makes the announcement that he has hired his dad as an assistant coach.
The question is would this ever happen and would it work? I feel like this would work if Rick is only retiring to have a less strenuous work load and not have to deal with the year round demands of coaching, recruiting, and everything else.
