#96 Pedro Sibiea
Class: RS Sophomore
Position: Defensive Tackle
Hometown: Homestead, Fla
Thoughts: The story on Pedro has been the same since he signed with Louisville. Awesome kid, awesome attitude, tons of potential but VERY raw. Coach Hurtt had high hopes for Pedro coming in and it appears Coach Grantham has adopted that same opinion. Dro has the size to compete up front, but still needs the coaching to become a great player. Although he is still listed as a defensive tackle, Pedro got the start at Right Guard in the Spring Game. I think that move may have been more reactionary simply due to the offensive line injury list at the time (Romano, Garcia, Klusman, and Mack) but the line looked pretty solid in that game, including Sibiea, allowing for big runs and protecting Gardner all night. We’ll see if the defense to offense swap remains as we get further into the summer, but Dro may have found himself battling for a starting spot in the trenches, or someone at least used in heavy rotation, if he keeps putting in the work. I hope he gets some more PT if for no other reason than I like saying "Dro".
Just met wit Coach P and I gotta say this summer is finna be intense but gonna be worth it!— Dro Sibiea (@_AlmightyDro) April 14, 2014
Those of us who’ve been around awhile can cosign on that excitement Dro. Even if you despise Bobby P you can’t deny that the man brings intensity and ultimately wins football games. If you’ve followed the countdown previously or seen some of my other posts I would say I’m always cautiously optimistic when it comes to my expectations for football, basketball, baseball…..heck any sport. I guess being a Cubs fan takes its toll on a man over the years. With that being said, I know we're still 96 days from kickoff and things can change fast, but I just scanned back through the schedule once again searching hard for our potential losses. I’m really trying hard to set my expectations low, but.....I honestly see 8 wins. Am I crazy? Too many? Too few? What do you think?
Thanks for taking my call, I’ll hang up and listen…
