Shoni Schimmel Captures Women's, Overall 3-Point Championship

David Manning-USA TODAY Sports

Shoni Schimmel buried the entire last rack to capture the women's 3-Point Championship in Dallas Thursday night, and then repeated the feat minutes later to beat Baylor's Brady Heslip and claim the overall title.

"I knew I had some time left," Schimmel said afterward. "I heard ‘you need three more' behind me, and I hit all of them."

The performance, which was broadcast on ESPN, was a tiny consolation prize for Schimmel, who saw her senior season end on a sour note on Tuesday when Louisville was defeated by Maryland in the Elite 8.

Luke Hancock also competed in the event on the men's side, but failed to advance out of the opening round. Eastern Kentucky's Marcus Lewis captured the Slam Dunk Championship.
