Sources indicate that Montrezl Harrell has already made up his mind to enter this year's NBA draft. Could this be the issue that has caused so much perceived strife between the Louisville players during the first weekend of the tourney? I certainly hope not. As much we would like to pretend that everything was all peaches and cream within the ranks, it was fairly apparent that something was amiss. We had players apparently arguing on the court and for some reason Trez was going well out of his way to assure Pitino he was doing his job. Not to mention a rather lackluster team performance for most of the two games. I realize who we played and their obvious strengths, but the team did not look at all the same in the two games played as they did over the last few weeks.
I do believe Trez will one day be a force in the NBA, however, I don't believe he has fully discussed this option with Pitino at this point. I highly doubt would take a break from his tournament preparation to focus on the future of an individual player. If Trez has made this decision, I wish him nothing but the best, but I question the wisdom. The timing of making this type of decision is atrocious, and quite frankly, is against the L1C4 mantra.
Rick Pitino now has a full week to deal with these issues and more before taking on our hated rival on Friday. If there were ever a man who could overcome this type of adversity, it would be him. I am not shaken, and I am not scared. I have full confidence in our team and coach.
Go Cards! Destroy Kentucky!
Van Holland, a local reporter in Harrell's hometown, has spoken to Trez's father who says to not believe anything until you hear it from the family.
