After a frustrating first half and a better second half, our Cardinals beat the Saint Louis Billikens. It wasn't a great game, but establishing some form of dominance in the second half makes me feel better about our chances in the Sweet 16. Following the win the attention immediately turned to the which team would we play next; the Kentucky Wildcats or the Wichita State Shockers?
After a back and forth game, the where the narrative of one-and-dones won over senior veterans, our despised rivals to the southeast, the Kentucky Wildcats are our next foe. I had reached a place of eerie solace at the opening tip-off - the threat of playing either wore away. Watching the game made me feel good: the back and forth game may help us. I think it primes Kentucky for a close-game hangover that Louisville didn't have to fight. While it might be diminished by the time we play them, I think it will wind up helping us.
Naturally, these games are always an outlier. However, I find comfort in another pair of numbers: 11-0. It will be mentioned countless number of times over the coming week, but Head Coach Rick Pitino is a perfect 11-0 in the Sweet 16.
So, do I feel confident? Yes. With that: here is your banner for this week.
See you in Indianapolis.
