I've returned from checking my bank accounts and scuba diving on Grand Cayman. Its a beautiful place and I've developed a new fondness for Caybrew, the local island beer. I want to thank neilh89 for getting the banners up in a timely fashion, as well as poking a little fun at me. He has no clue whats coming when he eventually gets married and I'm given the microphone.
In a game that was far too close for comfort, our Cardinals edged the Manhattan Jaspers in a game that looked more like the Red/White Scrimmage than a NCAA 2nd Round Tournament game. It was the theme of the day. Ohio State, my current school, also lost to Dayton. Now my girlfriend
has gets to wear Louisville gear for the remainder of the tournament, although she still won't let me out in public with a CCBM on.
At the start of the game, when Coach Rick Pitino was expressing that playing Steve Masiello's squad was a bit of an insult by the NCAA tournament committee, I didn't quite understand why. After watching the game it became painfully clear. It was a slug match, where neither team was allowed to maintain momentum for longer than a minute (at least in the second half). This narrative was aided by the undeniable fact that Masiello was calling out the offensive plays Louisville was running. Is like he played and coached for Pitino or something, which probably explains why Google's image of him is from his days as a Wildcat. Regardless, we won. The mantra in these games is survive and advance, and thats exactly what we did.
With that, our next foe will be the St. Louis Billiken's. I still have no clue what a Billiken is, and I don't really care. For the brief time period between the win over Manhattan and our game against St. Louis, without further ado, pomp and circumstance I present the banner for the next day and a half.
Go Cards, Beat the Billiken's.
