UofL Seeding Predictions

Nelson Chenault-USA TODAY Sports

This is getting comical. Joe Lunardi has actually moved UofL DOWN in the seeding predictions this morning. That's right, Louisville has been demoted to a #4 seed despite crushing victories over the last two days. If they win the AAC tournament today, they could go into the tournament as a #4-seed despite:

- Being the #4 ranked team in each of next week's AP and USA Today polls.

- Having the largest margin of victory of any college team team 1999 Duke. Note, the NCAA committee uses RPI which applies precisely 0.0% importance to margin of victory.

- Having a 1st team all-american who has been Ken Pomeroy's #1 and #2 player in college basketball for 2013 and 2014, respectively.

- A team that has been to two straight Final Fours.

- Being the #2 team in both Ken Pomeroy's and Jeff Sagarin's computer ratings.

- Having two of the three guys who are still playing college basketball who have been either a (1) NCAA regional MVP or (2) Final Four MOP (Colorado St. has the third guy....you know who he is).

- Having zero losses to unranked teams for the first time in Louisville history.

In addition, USA Today's bracket expert, Shelby Mast, also has UofL as a 4-seed today. Mark this down, if these guys are two-seed lines off of UofL's actual seed (eg, predicting UofL as a 4-seed and they actually are a 2-seed or better), we should stop calling these guys experts. Also, if I'm Wichita St. and I see UofL as the #4 seed in the Indianapolis regional, I am not happy. Or, seriously, how much would a 4-seed Louisville be favored over a #1-seed Villanova? UofL by 6?
