For some reason, my computer or SBN won't let me place a comment on the original story Mike did about Smart and what happened with the Texas Tech fan. And from reading those comments, a lot of debate centered around "legal" issues of proof or non proof.
This much we know, the fan involved is a fat-assed loud mouth who has been photographed making an obscene gesture to another player from another team (proof?) and has, according to comments from other players, repeatedly made off-color remarks to players opposing his beloved Texas Tech. (Here's another reason we should let the whole damn state secede from the union.)
The fat guy is white; the player is black. That makes the incident racial in an of itself. And it makes it time for arena officials or school officials or someone to take steps to keep these kinds of "adults" from hurling insults at players, many of whom may be less than perfect themselves but nevertheless its an adults-versus-kids thing. The kid went into the stands and shoved the obnoxious fan. He's suspended three games. My question is, why didn't somebody ask the obnoxious fan to leave? He's been a trouble maker before. What does he have to do to be disciplined in any way — shoot somebody? Hey, it's Texas. Anything is possible.
