He does not want to be here and it's pretty obvious. It is also pretty clear that he did interview at Texas without permission from TJ. I don't know if he will be the next Texas head coach, but he is making himself look pretty foolish just waiting around and not saying anything publicly while other head coaches (such as Briles of Baylor and Mora of UCLA) turn them down so he may eventually be their choice by default even though he was about 6th or 7th on their list. Strong is also not a good fit to be the head coach at the University of Texas for many reasons. He stated that he had loyalty to this school because Jurich was the one to give him a shot while no other school would and that he was 1st on our list but I think he would have came out and reaffirmed it just as David Shaw and Kevin Sumlin have. I think he would have taken the Tennessee job a year ago if they let him bring Hurtt along with him. Texas would still take Jimbo Fisher or Gus Malzahn over Strong but I don't see either of those coaches leaving their schools. I still think Strong will be our coach in 2014 but then the same thing will probably happen again next January if jobs such as Florida or Georgia open up.
I LOVE what Strong is building here and I really hope he continues to be the coach here and even retire here because he is a perfect fit for this job but it is just unrealistic to think that he will be here in a couple years. I think he feels he did what was asked of him at Louisville and is ready to move on.
