Those of you who read my previous post know that I did not follow the Bobby Petrino Cards that much growing up and really started following the Cards football team from the last game of the Steve Kragthrope era on til now. But I have seen highlights of the likes of Brohm passing to Douglas, Urrutia, and Barnidge, especially the Miami game, and I am excited about the possibility of the high-flying offense we could have starting next year.
But just a couple minutes ago, news came that another one of our highly-ranked commitments, the #1 fullback in the country Daniel Gresham, has de-committed because the Louisville staff took back their offer.
This deeply saddens me, especially in wake of the de-commitments of Poona Ford, Isaiah Ford, and Kavaris Harkless. Here is a highly ranked player, who considers Louisville "his home", and now is no longer committed because the Louisville staff retracts their offer.
Like all Cardinal fans, the question of why boggles me, but from my thinking, he could be the next great back in Louisville. Senorise Perry has finished his time at Louisville, Dominique Brown has one more year, and while we have Corvin Lamb and Brandon Radcliff, Gresham could probably make immediate impact and then take over the reigns as the next great Louisville back. To compare him to Michael Bush, Kolby Smith, or Bilal Powell at this point is a stretch, but he has a great amount of potential and to see him leave deeply saddens me.
But, I wish the man nothing but the best. He seems like a terrific guy who can offer a lot to any team he commits to. My hope is Louisville re-offers and for now, I am waiting and hoping they do. But to Daniel, I wish him nothing but the very best and that God will show him the right school.
To Bobby Petrino & the Louisville football staff: There's no time to waste.
