#11 Will Gardner

Class: RS Freshman

Ht/Wt: 6-5/230

Position: Quarterback

Hometown: Douglas, Ga

Twitter: NA

Thoughts: Will Gardner is good. I reviewed Brett Nelson yesterday and put him on a pedestal to some extent just because I really like his game. With that being said, I may like Gardner's potential even more. Will came into the program last year and took a redshirt due to an ACL injury last summer. Although hurt, Gardner still got the opportunity to get his nose in the playbook early and often. Gardner was a big target that some people forget was being pursued by the likes of Alabama, Mississippi St, NC State and others. It appears that Will is getting some great reps in this fall, so much that Watson solidified Gardner as his backup in early August and hasn't waivered from that the last few weeks. At 6-5 and 230lb Gardner is actually taller and slightly bigger than Teddy. I've got confidence in Will as the backup, just as I would if Nelson was placed in that role. As much as I'll hate to see Teddy leave, next season should be an interesting battle as to who will take over the thrown as the next UofL signal caller.

Sweet Tweet: No twitter for Will that I could find. I actually did a Youtube search for Will as well and only found one video. Only one video for such a high recruit just two years ago? It's almost as if this is some "rare footage from Estonia".

#11 BJ Dubose

Class: Junior

Ht/Wt: 6-5/287

Position: Defensive Tackle

Hometown: Oakland Park, Fla

Twitter: NA

Thoughts: BJ has had an interesting path while here at Louisville. The former Miami commit came in two years ago guns blazing, playing in all 13 games as a freshman recording over 20 tackles, a couple sacks and a nod on the All-Big East freshman team. I called for him to have a breakout season last year and become an animal on the defensive line. He appeared in seven of the first eight games last year with production steadily increasing as the season wore on. Then, before the Temple game we get word the BJ is suspended indefinitely and he never plays another down in 2012. My goal with the countdown isn't to get into all the off the field stuff, nor do I pretend to know what is going on with BJ personally. I was extremely disappointed with the news last year, but I always trust Strong to do the right thing. BJ made his peace with the coaching staff and was reinstated in late January. He has been fighting hard to get back to were we all know he can be.The starting defensive tackle. As long as everything goes smoothly I expect to see freshman BJ come out again with a chip on his shoulder and something to prove.

Sweet Tweet: Another no show on twitter I guess. Can I make a request that players just use their real name and not "GoTthatFiRe" or "FROMtheBOTTOM" so I can actually locate your account. Yes, I know I sound like a grumpy old man. It sucks getting old.

In other news, as Mike pointed out yesterday, the Cards will start the AP poll at #9 and will more than likely never be an underdog all season. According to a recent report, it appears that Apple's Siri will never be a fan of the Cards then....When asked her favorite college football team she replies "I always like to root for the underdog. I guess that makes me a fan of Oregon St. right now". Just an FYI for her other favorite teams, CBB: Oregon, NFL: Buccaneers, MLB: Astros, NBA: Clippers, NHL: Predators. Full story here.
