Tailgating 101: By…well…you.

Football season tickets were recently mailed out by the University of Louisville’s ticket office. With only two weeks to go before our football season finally kicks off I feel like it is time for us to get our tailgates in order. I have been a lifelong Cardinals fan and have been fortunate enough to attend more than my fair share of football games, but this is the first time I have ever purchased season tickets. This season could be one of the most incredible seasons in the history of our program and I want my tailgating experience to match that. To do this, I’m going to need your help.

I have my red cooler with a Louisville cooler koozie. I have my Louisville chairs and cornhole boards, but due to my lack of experience as a tailgater, I mostly have questions. For instance, where is the best place to tailgate outside of the Green Lot? Other than Darude’s Sandstorm, what kind of music should I play? What other responsibilities do I have as a fan and tailgater? I know I’m supposed to be in my seat at least a half hour before kickoff, but how long does it take to walk to my seat? Where’s the best place to see the Card March and when do I need to move in to position for it? What’s the best food for tailgating?

As you can probably already tell by now, I would be lost without you. So for the sake of myself and the handful of fans out there like me, don’t let us walk around in circles this fall with our heads tilted back looking up into the clouds. Please help.
