Everyday, I make the drive to work from Lexington (a city that sucks) to Frankfort (a city that's just kind of there) and it gives me lots of time to think. All of a sudden, it hit me. No, not the fact that we are reigning national champions; I have a commemorative national championship watch to remind me of that glorious truth everyday. I'm talking about the completely ****ing surreal prospect of Russ Smith's legacy. If we go back-to-back and Russ is a first team All-American this year, Russ v. Griff becomes a legitimate conversation. If Russ is National Player of the Year and we win it all again, it's not a conversation, it's a fact. Russ Smith would be the greatest Louisville Cardinal of all-time.
How. In. The. Holy. Hell. Is. This. Happening? He would have a Final Four, two national titles, a 3rd team All-American spot, and NPOY.
Is this likely to happen? No, of course not.
BUT...Is this scenario entirely possible and would anyone in the country outside of the Big Blue Cesspool in which I live be shocked if this happened? No, not really.
If anyone saw this coming after the Morehead State game, he or she should be burned at the stake for Witchcraft.*
*Just kidding. Everyone knows that nobody saw this coming.
