Thoughts: Mitchell is another walk-on for the Cards coming from Male High School. Nelson didn't get any PT last season but fills out a solid cornerback group I referenced a few days ago. I like seeing local kids walk-on as I get the feeling that they probably grew up as a fan of the program and really do have a vested interest in seeing the "program" succeed and not just playing for the name on the back. (*cough* Calipari *cough*) I walked-on at UofL one time myself.....walked right on the field with about 20,000 other people after we beat down the stinking Mountaineers. I still hate WVU.
Sweet Tweet: No twitter for Mitchell, but everytime I read and/or type his name I think Mitchell & Ness. (Warning: You're about to get inside my head. I apologize for all the Cubs statistics and 90's hip hop lyrics. Just ignore those.) Mitchell & Ness immediately makes me think "throwback jerseys", which makes me think about some of these amazing fashion statements in the 80's and 90's....
Hey kids, those"snapbacks" you wear now used to be called "hats"....because that's all we had. Now, get off my lawn!

Thoughts: Let's go ahead and get this out of the way. Last year on the Countdown I gave out some nicknames to the players. Some were ok and some were downright embarrassing. BUT, I will take credit for at least 4 solid contributions last year (even if they haven't quite caught on yet.) I thought "Wallace and Bomb it" was solid. A little hipster maybe, but come on?! Don't forget about me when Musburger is calling him that in 2015. "Lambo" for Corvin Lamb, Six-point Parker or Spiderman for DeVante...these are pure gold people. My favorite? Day 33. It's magical....you'll see.
Back to the good stuff. Wallace was a beast last year. He started the season 10 of 11 with the lone miss coming from 57 yards (aka further than most of us can sprint without busting a lung). He finished up 16 of 21 and had a clutch kick against Cincy to wrap up the game where I paced back and forth so much I wore a hole into my carpet. Wallace will be your starting kicker this season, bank on it. Go ahead and call the Bovado. Wallace also recently got some preseason love being listed on the Lou Groza Watch List. Wait, like a tornado watch? "Watch" meaning that the Award has been spotted...? Shouldn't it be Lou Groza "Warning" List meaning conditions are right for the award to occur..? I'm so confused. Where's Christie Dutton when I need her.
