If former NFL scouts are involved, they would be inclined to look at everything from a talent perspective, and not necessarily from a team perspective. And which conference sends the most talent to the NFL year after year? The SEC. UofL is lucky in that we are one of the few non-traditional power schools that regularly puts high-caliber players into the NFL. But if judgments are based in part on who has more talent, rather than who has earned it, then this playoff thing will end up being worse than the BCS, which is saying something. Hopefully cooler heads will prevail and the scouts' input would only be used in the case of two teams who otherwise have equal resumes and the committee is looking for a distinguishing factor. But the worst case scenario would be if they use "talent" as a quantifier in the process, e.g. "Well, Florida has 12 guys that are NFL-ready and Louisville only has 4. Even though Florida has 2 losses and Louisville has none, Florida seems like the better team, so let's get them in there."
