#91 Marcus Smith
Position: Defensive End
Hometown: Columbus, GA
Thoughts: Smith has had a pretty fascinating storyline while at UofL. Out of high school Smith was actually brought in as a dual-threat QB. As playing time became difficult to obtain the coaches realized the athleticism that Marcus possessed and eventually moved him to linebacker. He immediately made an impression and ultimately helped fill a void last fall with the move to defensive end. While slightly undersized at the end, his speed is killer to opposing lineman, as evident from his four sacks and team leading seven tackles for loss last year. Starting all 13 games, Marcus has solidified his role at end and looks to have a breakout year in his new found responsibility. Coming off surgery this off-season Marcus should be ready to go by fall camp.
As a side note, outside of the Teddy Confetti pic, this is my favorite from the Sugar Bowl. The epitome of game summed up in one image…my man Marcus flexin on em.
Somebody said well u have 2 big championships, u did a good job, I said no the job isn't done— Marcus Smith (@MoneyMarcc91) May 2, 2013
Between comments like this from various players to the no-campaign campaign for Teddy I’m really starting to believe this team is getting dialed in for this year. I’m getting excited….91 days.
