Report: Rutgers names Julie Hermann new athletic director
Rutgers has named Julie Hermann as its new athletic director, according to the New Jersey Star-Ledger.
Hermann, 49, was serving as senior associate athletic director at Louisville and has been at the school since 1998. She would become just the third female AD at a BCS program, joining Debbie Yow at North Carolina State and Sandy Barbour at California.
Rutgers' former athletic director, Tim Pernetti, resigned last month amidst the scandal regarding former basketball coach Mike Rice.
According to the paper, Hermann was chosen ahead of Wisconsin deputy athletic director Sean Frazier Wednesday morning after an emergency voting session held by the school's Board of Governors.
Hermann will be tasked with overseeing the Scarlet Knights' transition to the Big Ten in 2014, as well as their move this coming fall to the American Athletic Conference.
There will be an introductory press conference Wednesday afternoon, the paper reports.
