Pitino Names Hancock, Smith Captains For 2013-14

USA TODAY Sports

Welcome to the Captain Russ era.

Rick Pitino announced Monday afternoon that the senior duo of Russ Smith and Luke Hancock will be the captains of the Louisville basketball team for the 2013-14 season.

Hancock, the Final Four's Most Outstanding Player, was a co-captain last season alongside senior Peyton Siva. Smith, the Midwest Region's Most Outstanding Player, averaged a team-high 18.7 points per game and surprised a number of people by electing to return to school for another season.

Among another announcements, Pitino also revealed that he had recently purchased a 2-year-old colt which he has named "Three Point Luke" after Hancock.

More from the press conference in a bit.
