They'll be playing a really good Wichita State team, and not to put a downer on things, but I hope these remarkable young men can come back to earth in time to take the Shockers seriously. Even before we lost Kevin, the truth is our match ups with Wichita State were cause for some concern. We can't lull ourselves into thinking that they don't belong in the Final Four. Not for a minute.
They are a terrific rebounding team and they play outstanding, in-your-face defense. I don't want our dream season to end pre-maturely — hell, I don't want it to ever end. But it would be a real shame if we didn't win the whole thing after coming this far. It's going to be a tall order without Kevin Ware, God bless him. But I'm fairly confident our young men will look at this weekend's games as the final steps to completing their mission.
There have been a mountain of wonderfully poetic thoughts and emotions published here since Sunday's awful injury. Those posts have proven, time and time again, that there's never been a better time to be a Cards fan. The national championship would be the only fitting conclusion to this remarkable season.
