There have been a lot of questions in recent months about whether or not the new turf inside Papa John's Cardinal Stadium means that the field will also be getting a design makeover.
The answer is yes.
U of L football sports information director Rocco Gasparro tweeted out the following image about what the new PJCS field will look like this fall.
It's safe to assume the Big East logos are either just an oversight or the product of an image that was prepared several months ago.
Quick thoughts:
--Love going with the standard Cardinal head at midfield. I think this was the biggest complaint most U of L fans had, and it's good to see that it was addressed.
--I've always been a big fan of fields with the alternating shades of turf every 10 yards, so obviously I'm in favor of this.
--The black endzones will probably be the most hotly-debated item, but I think it's pretty cool.
Field designs are one of those things that you have to see with your own eyes before you can form a solid opinion, but if the actual field winds up looking like the design then I think I'm going to enjoy it.
