While I'm sure many of you are quite smug about last night's poor performance by the Commonwealth's flagship last night, there is some news out there in the world of Bluegrass basketball we can all be proud without losing half our friends on Facebook.
Georgetown College (not the one in DC, and not Centre, that's in Danville, and not Transylvania, that's the vampire school in Lexington) won the NAIA National Championship over Southwestern Assembly of God University (Texas). The Tigers came out strong and walloped the Lions, winning in an 88-62 romp.
If you're a Georgetown alum or know someone who goes to school there, give them a hearty congrats. We truly do live in a special part of the world where basketball is more than just a game, and where successes always a majority of the time come pouring in.
Here's to hanging up a banner in Georgetown and at the Yum! here soon. Go Tigers. Go Cards. Go Commonwealth.
