With the Catholic 7 announcing their departure in July and taking the Big East name with them, how does that impact the league that we are left with? How are the automatic bids for the BCS handled? I assume that regardless of what name we are under next year we still have the AQ status from what was the Big East (especially since the teams leaving had no part in football). I'm sure when setting up the AQ status' no one ever thought a conference would break apart like the Big East has.
Can anyone confirm that the left over conference (American 12??) will have the AQ status that the BE had?
