The fourth-ranked Louisville baseball team will play its first of 36 home games inside the newly renovated Jim Patterson Stadium when they host Eastern Kentucky (1-2) at 3 p.m on Wednesday.
The game will be the 109th all-time meeting between the two programs. Louisville leads the series 59-48-1, and has won the last 12 games played in the Derby City and 10 of the last 11 meetings overall. The two teams will play again later this season.
U of L enters its home opener with a record of 2-1 after its season-opening trip to Florida last weekend. The Cards opened with a disappointing 2-0 loss to Indiana before bouncing back with a 10-1 win over South Florida and a 9-4 triumph over Purdue.
If you can't make it out to the ballpark today, fear not. Today's game begins an eight-game homestand for the Cardinals and a stretch of 24 of 26 games for Louisville at The Patt (or "The Pat"...need some clarification from someone who knows. Moth?).
