There has been an influx of trolls on just about any thread that gets over 200 comments. The most previously trolled thread was the "The Script Said Overtime" thread. The trolls come in many shapes and sizes. They may be a "fan" or "alum" of a victorious opponent, or a "Cards fan who has just had enough and is permanently abandoning their fanhood until the next post comes along to troll." Then there is the notorious "You're definitely a UK fan" troll. I'm sure there are many others.
I understand that there are some people that like to volley back and forth with a troll, but it has been properly noted that this lowers the level of our discourse considerably. I see George988Kaplan and Mr. Fantastic (or characters like them) on every losing thread. Is it really so difficult to just ignore it all? With no audience to entertain them, they will quickly disappear. After two or three inflammatory comments, they will surely disappear to their still miserable lives. Same with the supposed Cardinal fans that never have anything constructive to say. The Card Chronicle can and should be a place where we can analyze, discuss and even occasionally vent. Because of this, tempers may flare and people may say things they should not have. That's perfectly acceptable, but is it really worth it to continuously feed posters that offer no constructive content to the site?
I'm sure I'll have people who will flame me for this post and greatly disagree with every single word I've said, but I just wanted to throw all of this out there. Respond to and argue validly stated viewpoints with which you disagree. Ignore the damn trolls.
