I know everyone is just tired hearing about the epic game from Saturday night in South Bend. So, I wanted to give all of you a reason to come off your ledge just a little bit and offer an optimistic look at what the rest of the regular season holds for us. The next four games are home St. Johns, @ USF, home SHU, and Depaul Day in Chicago . These should and must be wins. The RPI for these 4 teams are 56, 96, 102 and 191 (Damn it Depaul). So with an RPI of 7, Louisville cannot afford any losses to these teams if they want to earn either a 1 or 2 seed in the tourney. The best part of the BE this year is the depth, with 9 out of the top 15 teams being ranked in the top 60 of the RPI and 13 out of 15 in the top 100. This means there are plenty of chances for resume building wins for teams trying to get in, and plenty of resume builders for teams looking for seeding.
Say Louisville wins these four games like they should, that would place the team at 23-5 and 11-4 in the BE and we will have won 7 out of our last 8 games heading up to the Dome for some revenge. Syracuse and Cinci are our last opportunities to beat RPI top 30 teams (elite) as ND is still seen as a quality win/loss (RPI 50). So Criss Cross what does all of this mean? Well my friends it means that Louisville still has plenty of time to add to an already impressive resume going into the BE tourney. This is shaping up to be a year where the 1 and 2 seeds will be decided by what goes on in these tourneys, with no great teams rising from the ashes yet. I would love for us to be going into NYC at about 25-6, because that would mean that we have taken two of three from the heavy hitters at the end of the schedule. Everyone is freaking out about the offense and such but KenPom still has our offense rated as 19th in the country, and we all know how bad it was last year (103rd). So come off the ledge just a little bit fellow Card fans, we are going to be alright. #L1C4
