Rick Pitino hinted at this during a press conference after the Western Kentucky game and now it will happen. He is a 6'11 210 pound Center from Mali who, for about the last half year, was playing for a prep team in Kansas. I have not seen highlights of him but according to a Future Stars International website, he has a huge wingspan, can run the floor very well and possesses good skills in the low post. He can also handle the ball well enough for them to mention it; and is a solid shot blocker and rebounder. At age 16 in the U18 Spanish Clubs Championships he averaged a little over 10 points and 13 rebounds (doesn't say how many games). And in the Gran Canaria EBA-B, whatever that stands for, he averaged 10 points and 8 rebounds. While Van Treese provides nice energy and Mathiang is getting better game by game, it would be very nice to add this guy for impact and depth for conference play/tournament. Oh, I bet you all killing for me to say what his name is.......You'll find out soon enough so it's not worth me mentioning.
(His name is Bakary Konate if you really wanted to know)
