Time for Charlie to pass on the engineer's hat to Rick . As we sit back and take a deep breath from the amazing journey of the football season, we must make it a short respite. We have a National Title contender gearing up for what may be the last run through the brutal Big East. As advertised Louisville's backcourt may be the best in the country. Peyton Siva has finally accepted his roll as a point guard and the hard work over the summer on his jumper look's to pay off huge this year. Even on an off night Russ Smith is going to score in double digits and add grey hair to Rick in heaps. Who would have ever thought that this little unknown guard would be garnering national attention for player of the year honors. Throw in the emergence of Harrell as a solid back up to Gorgui, Wayne coming into his own and it is a great time to be a Cardinal Fan.

I know we all had reservations early on about how this team was gonna score. Would they have the deadly scoring droughts of last year? Well I did a little research and it's looking really good for us. Here is a look at last year from roughly the same time span vs this year.

Offensive Averages

PPG 68.2 National Rank 169th

APG 13.3 National Rank 128th

RPG 37.8 National Rank 28th

FGP 42.2 National Rank 236th

Defensive Averages

PPG 61.0 NR 32nd

APG 13.3 NR 71st

RPG 36.1 NR 269th

FGP 38.4 NR 6th

This year Offensive

PPG 78.4 National Rank 31st

APG 15.5 National Rank 50th

RPG 38.7 National Rank 28th

FGP 46.2 National Rank 55th

Defensive

PPG 57.5 NR 23rd

APG 9.1 NR 10th

RPG 32.9 NR 98th

FGP 40.2 NR 93rd

We have improved in every area except the FG % allowed at 40.2, but with the PPG down by 3.5 I think that evens out. The only thing left is the 3 point shot and I have those stats also.

This YR - 3 point % 33.7 NR 172

Last YR- 3 point % 31.8 NR 274
