For starters, I'm not trying to rub salt in the wound. I'm here to say I appreciate what we've got going on.
The Big East was a good time. Glad you're coming with to the ACC. And here's to the future. Rivalry-wise, I'm pumped. If we're talking Georgetown, they're just garbage. Look at the "Catholic 7." They're damn near the Big East's bottom 7. UConn? They could win the next 100; we still have 6OT. I was there. And before it ended, I imagined how much it would hurt to ultimately lose that one. Glad I didn't feel it. St. John's? I'm 26. They haven't been relevant since I've been following college basketball.
And then there's you guys. Not one of those classic rivalries. And probably not "the" rival, far as you all are concerned, but they're in the SEC, and that conference can have their football awesomeness. Going back to my age, as far as I've followed, Syracuse is a basketball school. Anyway, I like what we've got going. Sure, Syracuse couldn't win against UL for a while. I don't think I saw a SU victory against them in my time as a student. That sucked. But we've pulled a few now, and looking ahead, I'm sure there will be a hell of a lot of splits and streaks and whatnot. That's basketball.
I'm glad you're coming along to the ACC. I don't like you most of the time, but when I found myself psyched to see you drop Florida in that other sport not long ago I thought, hey, these guys are alright. I might see Pitino the same way you see Boeheim. You know, restaurant liaisons, booger eating, that stuff. I might relish in an @UL win. But I wouldn't expect any different from you. You guys have something good going on over there, we have something good going on over here, and everyone else gets pretty caught up in us playing each other. On top of that, the basketball sports world (outside of UNC and Duke) is saying a lot about red and orange running another conference soon. I'll take that.
I may not like you, but I appreciate you. Here's to March 2nd and way beyond.
