Louisville's Andrew Farrell Taken No. 1 In MLS Draft

The crazy run for University of Louisville athletics continues.

With the first pick in the 2013 MLS SuperDraft, the New England Revolution selected Cardinal standout and Atherton High School product Andrew Farrell.

Farrell, the Big East Defensive Player of the Year in 2012, anchored a Louisville defense which allowed 0.62 goals per game during league play. He also finished tied for third on the team with four goals and nine points, as he helped lead the Cards to the Elite Eight for a third consecutive season.

A junior in 2012, Farrell was one of seven underclassmen to sign a Generation adidas contract, a guaranteed multi-year deal designed to entice talented collegiate players to leave school early for the MLS.

A huge day for Peppa, and a huge day for U of L soccer. Congratulations to both.
