#24 Daniel Brown

Class: RS Senior Ht/Wt: 6-1/226 Position: Linebacker Hometown: Atlanta, Ga

Louisville’s Take: Big-play linebacker... always seemed to be around the football ... used effectively to put pressure on the quarterback ... recorded a career-high in tackles and sacks in 2010... productivity slipped in 2011

Thoughts: Most Cards fans remember the 2010 Daniel Brown. The beast who had 55 tackles with 10 for loss and a return for a touchdown. It was sleek, fuel efficient and fun to watch. The 2011 model wasn’t quite as nice. Daniel only started six games and accumulated 39 tackles with one sack. Not a lemon, but not as thrilling as what we expected. Unfortunately, he just set the bar to high as a Sophomore and didn’t quite meet expectations last season. As a Senior, I expect Daniel to step his game back up, take on a leadership role and provide a spark from the linebacker position along with Preston. I remember the excitement around him after 2010 where the coaches said he could play any of the three linebacker positions; he was uncharacteristically agile for his size and they were overly excited about his potential. I expect big things from Daniel this year. With plenty of young guns nipping at his heels I think we see the 2010 model reborn, with a nicer sound system and one of those spiffy backup cameras. Hell, maybe even some new floor mats.

Here’s Danny boy talking about the 2012 defense...

UPDATE: A quick check of the Googles informs me that "Streeter Doodlebop" hits the Card Chronicle on Page 1 and still shows multiple UofL images. This is happening Jordan. Embrace it.
