#26 Zed Evans

6995481_medium

Class: RS Junior Ht/Wt: 5-11/173 Position: Cornerback Hometown: Seagoville, Tx

Louisville’s Take: Made the transition to running back from the defensive backfield... worked mainly on the scout team... showed a good burst and ran hard when his number was called.

Thoughts: I’m sure Zed feels a little like Sam Beckett (Warning: Quantum Leap reference) at the beginning of each practice. Where will I land today? Stalking the sidelines with the other corners, looking to knockdown passes and intercept Teddy’s rocket throws OR hanging with the backs, making cuts, dodging tackles and making catches from the very man I was just trying to intercept. Zed moves back and forth between these two positions quite often. At least four times over the last two years. I personally like him more at corner. I think his speed and size is better utilized and we have more of a need there right now. With two years of eligibility Zed could be a real nice piece of an already impressive defensive unit….until he gets moved back to running back. "Oh,boy"

#26 DeVontre Parnell

Class: Freshman Ht/Wt: 5-11/176 Position: Cornerback Hometown: Winnsboro, S.C.

Louisville’s Take: Played for Demetruis Davis at Fairfield Central... ranked a four-star prospect by ESPN.com... three-star recruit by Rivals.com and Scout.com... ninth-best collegiate prospect in South Carolina by ESPN.com... ranked as the 30th-best cornerback by Rivals.com and the 13th-best prospect in South Carolina... fast and explosive on the corner who is very productive... very instinctive with great awareness... aggressive corner who can be very physical... has great speed and can attack the football in the air... also solid at returning punts and kickoffs... made Tom Lemming's list as one of the top cornerbacks in the nation.

Thoughts: Parnell is coming off an ACL injury his senior year and said the driving force behind his recovery was Hot Hot’s comments about "De" players having issues. At least that’s what I remember him saying. Of course, then he comes out in the first couple practices and gets ripped for making a ton of bonehead mistakes. I hope you’re happy Hot Hot, look what you’ve done.

The story behind Parnell is his speed and awareness. Rated as a 4 star corner prior to his injury, Parnell was a major get for Strong and the boys back in July of last year. Word on the street is he has bulked up 15-20lbs since landing on campus and I’m not talking about 15lbs of Baconators. Straight Muscle homey. Expressing interest in Kentucky and NC State, Devontre said the coaching staff at The Ville was the major selling point along with their plan for him. I fully expect DeVontre to see the field this year, maybe in the nickel defense, maybe on the outside. All I know is Coach Restivo is glad to have him.

Potential Nicknames: "Parnell Island", "Tre"
