We just have to get through three more days and then it's go time. We all know that HCCS wants a primary RB to get the bulk of the carries. The coaching staff has stated that the players already know who that is, but that they won't be saying until game day. I wanted to make this an open forum to discuss who we think SHOULD be the starting RB. So have at it. But first, my two cents:
First of all, let me say that I trust whatever decision Coach Strong and Coach Klein make. I have not been there watching the guys go through practice and seeing how they progress. Plus I would never second-guess a man that buttons his polo shirts all the way to the top. Having said that, I would like to see Jeremy Wright and Dom Brown split carries, with Perry giving them breathers and changing the pace. But since that's not an option in this exercise (I'm making it a rule, no take-backs), I would go with Wright, assuming he's healthy. Brown's power and sure-handedness are great and I could definitely see using him as a short yardage back, but if he gets a big hole he doesn't really have the speed to take it all the way to the house. Wright seems to blend speed and power well. He can bully through to pick up a few tough yards or run past guys in the open field for a big gain. Perry is more of an unknown for me. He had some solid runs last season, and seems to do well cutting to the outside where he can really use his speed, but can he handle getting pounded play after play, game after game? Obviously the coaches know better than I.
So have it. Discuss to your hearts desire. But most importantly, pass some time until Sunday.
