The Cardinal Countdown...10 Days Until Kickoff

#10 Dominique Brown

Class: Junior Ht/Wt: 6-2/230 Position: Running back Hometown: Cincinnati, Ohio

Louisville’s Take: Gives the Cardinals a big and physical back... made a smooth transition from quarterback to running back... excellent straight-ahead runner who runs behind his pads... fights to gain every yard... has thrived in short-yardage situations.

Thoughts: At 6 feet 2 inches and 230lbs Dominique would be a good sized linebacker. Unfortunately for our future opponents this beast of a man is actually a running back. While we saw DB at running back sparingly back in 2010 (20 rushes), last year against the Wildcats of Kentucky he took over the ground game and surprisingly racked up over 90 yards on 14 carries. Dominique ended up as our second leading rusher last year with 533 yards, only behind Vic Anderson with 539. Dom is currently in a heated battle for the starting role at running back with Jeremy Wright and Senorise Perry. While it’s been my opinion all off-season that we would be a running back by committee type team this year, Coach Strong spoke out as recent as yesterday saying he definitely wants it to be a one man show with support from others. While I’ve expressed my love for Senorise, I happen to agree with Mr. Rutherford’s comments yesterday that when all is said and done Dom Brown gets the start. We’ll see Perry and Wright against the Cats unless something crazy happens but I’m looking for a 100+ yd, 2 touchdown game for DB.
