Louisville Basketball Recruiting Rundown: Pre-Visit Primer

I know you all are probably sick of recruiting with football around the corner, but there's going to be a lot, I mean a lot of big visits from September 2nd on. With that, your rundown rankings (profiles aren't going to be posted, you've seen them a thousand times now).

The Rundown Rankings:

  1. Anthony Barber
  2. Chris Jones
  3. Marcus Lee
  4. Jarrell Martin
  5. Moses Kingsley
  6. JaJuan Johnson
  7. Troy Williams
  8. Karviar Shepherd
  9. Demetrius Jackson
  10. Kyle Washington

Now, for the important part: the scoop.

Anthony Barber and Marcus Lee will visit on the weekend of September 8th. I would expect for the staff to make a hard push to get Troy Williams and Anton Gill on campus. Williams for obvious reasons, but if the staff really impresses them, and they become good friends with Gill, we just gained another leg up on the competion for the three.

Things sound more promising than ever on the Anthony Barber front. In an interview, he had high, high praise for Louisville. Some people even are saying that Louisville has overtaken Kansas for the driver's seat in the recruitment.

Demetrius Jackson will either be visiting the week after Barber or two weeks after.

Chris Jones will visit in late September or October. If we strike out on Barber, this is the one to watch.

Louisville has made JJ Johnson's final three. We should be recieving an official soon.

Mangok Mathiang is enrolled at UofL and will begin classes Monday. He hasn't been fully cleared yet, but word is he just has to finish the home stretch. God knows when we'll find out, but the odds look much better than before.

Moses Kingsley's recruitment is about to take shape. He will be talking it over at Huntington Prep, and this could go into spring. Moses has made it clear that he wants more offers. At this point in time, it's a two horse race between Louisville and Arkansas. Definitely subject to change though.

Kyle Washington will be visiting Louisville barring a commitment from Kingsley or Shepherd. Date is undetermined.

And finally, a really funky article was published by the Adam Zagoria (the guy who said that Marquis Teague was a Louisville lock) talking to Jordan Mickey's dad. Mickey's father says that Louisville, SMU, and Ohio St. are guarenteed to make his top 5. Louisville has not contacted Mickey since June. Draw your own conclusions.

Just for fun, at this point, there' s a couple of scenarios for how this class ends up.

Okay, here's my reasoning.

We have a full head of steam going on in Anthony Barber's recruitment. Alabama is fading out, and it sounds like it's us and Kansas. I think with the right visit, we pull this off.

We've been on JJ Johnson since June. We are the only school in his official top 5 at this time. I think that that says something about the recruitment, considering it's been like this since the visit in June. I think another official closes the deal, but we'll definitely have to fight off Memphis.

Marcus Lee gets an asterisk. If we get September 8th to be that monster visit weekend, then this could very, very easily happen. Marcus Lee described his dream school as having a team, not I atmosphere, one that likes defense, and works as a unit. Check, check, and check.

Kingsley is a player who has turned it on lately. He has developed more offense, still has solid D, and has some bounce. Not a fan of his attitude though. Really has been vocal that he doesn't like the offers in hand.

Thanks for reading the recap, have fun following the visits and beating UK. Go Cards.
