The Cardinal Countdown...14 days till kickoff

**I am now a believer in the power of the #18 jersey. A few short hours after posting the Titus Teague summary Mrs. CardinalStrong and myself welcomed baby CardinalStrong into the family. The fact that she came out dancing and with dreadlocks was somewhat worrisome though…Titus, I’ve got my eye on you.**

#14 Andrell Smith

Class: Senior Ht/Wt: 6-3/217 Position: Wide Receiver Hometown: Miami, Fla

Louisville’s Take: Coming off a solid season ... has good size and showed he can make plays ... needs to be more consistent catching the football, but will benefit from continued reps ... missed spring practice with a back injury.

Thoughts: Andrell has kind of become a "big play" guy over the last few years. While this isn’t a negative thing, it’s a bit disappointing that he seems to make these 25-30 yard grabs, then disappear for long stretches. A prime example was the 38 yard grab against Kentucky for a touchdown last year. I remember thinking…"finally, Andrell it going to break it off this season".

He then proceeded to have nine catches the rest of the year. Sure, of those nine he had a 25, 39 and 30 yard reception, but why go all David Copperfield in between in those grabs? I like Andrell as a player and he seems to have a great L1C4 attitude, but I’m really hoping this year as a senior he can become more than just "big play Andrell". We have a lot of threats at wide receiver this year so he isn’t going to continue to get a ton of chances until he proves he can be the threat we all know he can be....and Teddy has to get him the ball. Rooting for you Andrell.
