With 36 days till the season kicks off I'd like to wish Mrs. CardinalStrong a Happy Anniversary. As I put together player summaries each day she provides me with unbelievable support.....or she continually makes fun of me for it.......... Don't remember for sure but definitely one of those two.
#36 Kevin Houchins
via ESPN
Class: Freshman Ht/Wt: 5-11/194 Position: Defensive Back Hometown: South Euclid, Ohio
Louisville’s Take: Played for Rob Atwood at Brush High School... three-star prospect by Rivals.com and Scout.com... committed over the summer... 59th-ranked cornerback by Scout.com... ranked as the 43rd-best recruit in Ohio by 24/7 Sports... missed most of senior season after tearing ACL... played free safety and wide receiver for the Arcs... recorded 22 tackles and five pass break-ups... returned a kick 95 yards for a touchdown... run-stopping cornerback who is good in one-on-one coverage situations... has well-rounded ability and has good versatility... two-year starter on defense...
Thoughts: Kevin comes into the program coming off an ACL injury last year, forcing him to miss almost his entire senior season. Maybe this means he’ll avoid the Cardinal Curse now that he’s here on campus. Kevin, fortunately for him, finds himself in a position where the Cards aren’t considered too deep. Bushell and Johnson should feel somewhat comfortable starting at corner, but everyone else is fighting for what’s left. I expect to see Kevin battling the rest of the fellas (Parnell, Teague, Pascal) for some significant time as the year progresses.
Potential Nicknames: "Lock down Houch"
#36 Bo Eggers
Class: RS Senior Ht/Wt: 6-0/240 Position: Fullback Hometown: Louisville, KY (Product of Manual)
Louisville’s Take: (No Notes Provided)
Thoughts: While Nick Heuser appears to be the man when a fullback is called upon, Bo could provide some depth at the position which I figure will be in use slightly more than the last few seasons. Coach Watson is looking to run, so having a big boy in there to create a lane might become more prevalent. Bo has been around the program long enough that he knows the drill and he is also a pretty smart cookie. (Fall 2011, 4.0 GPA). Look for Bo to be a solid piece of the running game puzzle….maybe even zig-zag to a touchdown.
Potential Nicknames: "Bo knows fullback", "RamBO"
