The Cardinal Countdown...42 days till kickoff

#42 Jalen Harrington

6995848_medium

Class: RS Freshman Ht/Wt: 6-2/227 Position: Linebacker Hometown: Louisville, KY (Product of Fern Creek)

Louisville’s Take: Tall, rangy athlete who can play a number of different positions... played for Curtis Higgins at Fern Creek High School... has been clocked at 4.65 in the 40-yard dash... often played linebacker, safety, running back and quarterback... rated as a three-star prospect by Scout.com and the 68th-best safety... named one of the top 20 football players to watch by Louisville.com... was named the 6-A District 4 Player of the Year... rated as the seventh-best prospect in the state of Kentucky...

Thoughts: Jalen may be listed in your media guide as a linebacker, but this kid is an ATHLETE, plain and simple. The Louisville note above covered it somewhat, but he has the versatility to be placed in numerous spots on the field and make an impact while there. I can honestly say I have no idea where all Jalen will play this year, and that’s actually a good thing. Finding a position that you play well enough to compete at a Division-I level is challenging enough, but if you can play 3 or 4 positions, in my mind, even better. We’ve covered the competition at linebacker already so I might lean more towards the safety position or possibly even special teams. Although, even with the talent we brought in, I wouldn’t be shocked at all to see him compete with Deon Rogers for that other linebacker spot. I look forward to seeing what Jalen will provide to the squad over the next few years.

Potential Nicknames: "Herringbone"

#42 Tyler Sharp

Class: RS Freshman Ht/Wt: 5-10/229 Position: Fullback Hometown: Louisville, KY (Product of Butler)

Louisville’s Take: (No Notes Provided)

Thoughts: I honestly don’t know much about Mr. Sharp. Even though he is a local talent I don’t remember hearing much about his play or even his athletic skill set. If Tyler remains at the Fullback position, I would expect him to see some playing time as the season progresses. There are only two other fullbacks on the roster and both are Seniors, so Tyler needs to be prepared when the time comes.

Potential Nicknames: "Ty", "Shapie"
