The Cardinal Countdown...43 days till kickoff

#43 Deon Rogers

Class: Junior Ht/Wt: 6-2/199 Position: Linebacker Hometown: Port St. Lucie, Fla

Louisville’s Take: Missed spring practice after tearing his ACL... athletic linebacker who was a solid special teams performer... still needs to add additional weight to his frame... runs well and shows good potential.

Thoughts: Deon has been getting his feet wet over the last few years as a steady performer on special teams. While his desire to crack the rotation at linebacker isn’t overlooked by the coaches, there’s no way he’s moving from his special teams spot unless something crazy happens. Deon has seen playing time since he was a freshman appearing in eleven games his first year, and all thirteen this past year. His freshman season I swear he must have laid out 6 or 7 kick returners. This was one of my favorites...

I remember a big hit against NC State last year as well, but couldn’t find it online. (Come on internet! Do your job!) Bringing in three linebackers this season may make it more challenging for Deon to see significant playing time in that position, but don’t count him out once he returns from his injury.

Potential Nicknames: "Mr. Rogers Neighborhood", "The Doctor" (Initials DR)
