#48 Nick Heuser
Class: RS Senior Ht/Wt: 6-0/236 Position: Fullback Hometown: Louisville, KY (Product of St. Xavier)
Louisville’s Take: (At St. X) Participated all four years... was an All-City and All-District performer as a senior... played in the East-West All-Star game... selected as one of the Bluegrass Preps... voted third-team All-State... selected as one of the team captain's
Thoughts: Nick is a walk-on who continues to prove his worth on the field. Nick saw some game action as a Fullback for the first six games of the season last year and then in the Belk Bowl. I can actually remember two or three times saying "geez, who’s the guy that just laid out that safety?" Psst… (whispering )…it was Nick.
With the running game being the focus for our offensive jumpstart each week, guys like Nick will be very important. I wouldn’t be shocked to see a split backfield or I-formation at times with two running backs instead of the fullback, but Nick will still be utilized when we need that extra size and strength.
Potential Nicknames: " Da Heus", "Boom Heuser"
#48 Deiontrez Mount
Class: Sophomore Ht/Wt: 6-5/234 Position: Defensive End Hometown: Fort Walton Beach, Fla
Louisville’s Take: Talented defensive player who can play either on the line or at linebacker ... versatility enables him to be part of regular rotation and add depth to defense... displayed good athleticism at the linebacker and defensive end positions... hard worker who wants to be a better football player.
Thoughts: As the season progressed last year, Deiontrez saw his hard work start to pay off. Trez actually got a start in five of the last nine games and played in all nine. He actually saw action at both defensive end and outside linebacker, finally settling with the latter towards the end of the year. Five unassisted tackles against Syracuse was the highlight of his season, but his contributions were recognized each and every week. There wasn’t a ton of hype surrounding Trez last year, but he is a gifted athlete who evidently bulked up even more during the offseason and impressed coaches during the spring. I know he is looking to keep a starting role, but with the likes of Dawson, K. Brown and Burgess chomping at his heels the competition for that outside linebacker spot should be fun to watch.
Deiontreeeez…..Mount Up! It was a clear black night, a clear white moon, 48 was on the field, trying to consume, some backs for a loss, you know he’s in the zone, their looking for a block but he knows they all alone….
Potential Nicknames: "Trez", "The Mounty"
