The recruiting battle for the services Trinity superstar James Quick figures to be the most widely-followed pursuit of a local football player since Brian Brohm was wearing green and white eight years ago.
More than a few folks who have followed Trinity football closely for decades will tell you that Quick is the best player to ever suit up for the Shamrocks. His acceleration is "have to see it to believe it" unreal, as evidenced by the 200m state record he shattered last spring. It's part the reason why programs like Ohio State, Oregon and - most recently - LSU have made the senior wide receiver a top priority this summer.
The good news for Louisville fans is that the Cards appear to have a head start on the competition heading into the fall.
As recently as a couple of months ago, Quick - who has already taken official visits to U of L and Ohio State - claimed that Oregon was his top choice to play college ball. Now, according to WDRB's Steve Andress, that has changed.
Top-25 Trinity (KY) WR James Quick told me after HS track top school was Oregon. Today he told me it's now #Louisville. Details WDRB 4:45— Steve Andress (@steveandress) July 11, 2012
It doesn't take a recruiting expert to understand what a commitment like this could mean for Cardinal football.
