After an evenly matched battle with New Mexico State in the Regional opener, Louisville faced a bully in Arizona Saturday night. The Wildcats scored 16 runs on 23 hits, the latter a season high allowed for U of L. After yielding five runs in the third, the Cards looked uncomfortable the rest of the way while the aggressive Wildcats were taking cuts and having fun.
"That's not a fun one to recap," Cardinals coach Dan McDonnell said. "We struggled on the mound and struggled at the plate. It was just a disappointing night all around."
What he said.
Louisville will play Missouri at 7pm ET on ESPN3.com tonight in an elimination game. After succumbing to Arizona 15-3 Friday, the Tigers rallied past New Mexico State 6-2 on Saturday. Tonight's winner will be rewarded by facing Arizona again--twice if they have ambitions of winning the Regional. Short term memory required.
Note: The first Tucson Regional championship game (Arizona vs. Missouri-Louisville winner) is scheduled to start at 11pm ET tonight.
UPDATE: According to U of L Baseball's Twitter account, the Missouri game will be shown on ESPNU after other Regional action ends in Columbia, S.C.
