#66 Alex Kupper
Class: RS Senior Ht/Wt: 6-3/296 Position: Offensive Line Hometown: Louisville, KY (Product of Trinity)
Louisville’s Take: Former walk-on who earned a scholarship after one year and has become one of the leaders of the football team... has worked hard to develop his body and become a solid offensive tackle... his versatility to play a number of positions on the offensive line has made him one of the most valuable players on the squad... has a strong work ethic and goes about his business with little fanfare.
Thoughts: Kupper is the man. I could leave it at that but it doesn’t really give him justice. Here is a guy who walked onto this team four years ago and has now not only become a starter on a conference championship team, but one of the leaders up front. Alex started all 13 games last season playing a little center for Mario before making the shift to tackle. Yesterday, via Mr. Rutherford we saw Rob Rang list Kupper as his 4th best NFL prospect on the team.Something well deserved in my eyes. His MCL injury in the spring game has been well documented but we just received word last week that his recovery is not only on track but potentially ahead of schedule. His goal was to be at 100% in July and that looks like it won’t be a problem. Kupper is a leader, a talented player and more importantly a guy with a team first mentality. Due to the fact that Kupper is big, strong and Caucasian, this wrap up wouldn’t be complete without me saying he has the proverbial "high motor".
Guys like Alex coming up through this program are the reason we are where we are today. Alex will do his job…count on it.
