Let's set the tone Cards fans. We're going to Lou Orleans!

It's going to be one of the best weeks in the history of Louisville basketball. I'm so excited for the team I can hardly stand it, and I'm also thrilled for our fans because I think we really are a great fan base. But to whom much is given, much is required.

So I'd like to offer a challenge to the proud fans of the Louisville Cardinals, and please take this with the respect that it is written with. The challenge is for us to set the tone. The tone of a positive, supportive, classy fan base that focuses on the positive aspects of our team and minimizes the negativity that can exist in others. All while respecting our opponents and more importantly, respecting the game. Local and national media will be looking for stories, and there will be times that we don't like what they say. Our coach's personal life and shortcomings may once again be put on display. The opportunity for trash talk, negative comments, and personal insults will be everywhere.

So how will we react? Will we lash out on message boards, toss insults to coworkers, say things that we may want to take back later? Or will we follow the lead of our team? Keep our heads up, take the high road, and not take the bait that could be thrown our way?

Our team has an opportunity to be a part of the fabric of sports history. And our fans have an opportunity to further enhance our reputation as loyal, intelligent, and classy. Win or lose, I hope both groups can be successful. It won't be easy, and will take a big effort. But I know we can do it, and I think the people that participate in the Card Chronicle will take the lead and set the tone. Go Cards! Final Four Lou Orleans 2012!
