Ode to the Greatest

With the news that the "Louisville Lip" would be in attendance tonight..... I adapted one of his more famous poems, which he recited to the media before the Liston fight, here.

Guards rush into back court and meet Sparty, Sparty starts to retreat.

If they move back an inch further they'll be up in the seats!

Cards swing with their left, Cards swing with their right, Look at young Cassi-Russ carrying the fight

Payne keeps backing, but there’s not enough room, It’s a matter of time till the King lowers the boom.

Now the Cards land with a right, what a beautiful swing, and the punch raises Sparty clean out of the ring.

Sparty’s still rising and the ref wears a frown, For he can’t start counting till Sparty goes down.

Now Sparty’s disappearing far-far from view,

The crowd starts to quake, But radar stations have picked them up, somewhere over the Great Lakes.

Who would have thought when they came to the fight? That they’d witness the launching of human satellites.

Yes the crowd did not dream, when they put up the money, That they would see a total eclipse of Sparty.

We are the GREATEST!!
